Easy DIY Scrunchie!!

Hey, everyone!
We all know that the 90s are coming back. I've never got of scrunchies to be honest! Hehe
Just recently I've decided to make my own. There are so many cool fabrics out there, so the options are endless! Those American Apparel scrunchies are cool and good quality, but I know I don't always want to pay $12 for one scrunchie.

So, here's my easy scrunchie tutorial! It will probably take less than 30 min to finish with a sewing machine.

You'll need:

- cool fabric of choice
- thread of a matching color
- measuring tape
- sewing needle
- 1/2 inch elastic

I picked my fabric up from Joann's. I like to look at the fat quarters in the quilting area. They're easier to pick up than the big spools of fabric and sometimes have different prints than you can find elsewhere.
But, of course, if you see a cool print elsewhere, don't hesitate to get like 1/4 of a yard or however much you want. You really don't need much for a scrunchie.

First, I measured the length and width I wanted. I chose 18 x 3.5 inches. The longer the piece, the more scrunchie it will be. The wider the piece, the taller it will be.

Next, I folded my piece in half longwise and inside out. Once that's done, flip your tube rightside out.

For the elastic, I measured mine around my wrist since I know I wanted to wear it comfortably around my wrist. I didn't stretch mine out while measuring. Once you have a good size for you, cut the elastic a little bit longer than you measured.

So next, pull your elastic through your fabric tube. It's easier with a paper clip.

Sew the elastic ends together, then sew the ends of your fabric together. I sewed the fabric together by hand because I wanted an invisible stitch.

And you're done! :) Super easy

I made the floral one first and did not do an invisible stitch to close it. I also made it a little wider than the red one. You can see the size difference below.

I follow Scrunchies of Instagram and saw some cute tie scrunchies on there. So, if you want to add a little tie to your new scrunchie, follow these instructions!

When I was making the red scrunchie, I accidentally cut on the fold of my fabric, so I had two pieces of fabric the same size. I decided to just use that piece.

I folded that piece in half  and than in half again and cut it to a point on one side.

I unfolded it after cutting and this is what it looked like: two piece of fabric, right sides facing each other.

I sewed the sides up except about an inch gap on one side.

Then I cut the edges of the points and clipped toward the seam on my curves.

Then, I turned it right side out and used a chopstick to poke out my points.

Next, I handsewed the gap to finish it up!

Tie it on your scrunchie and you're done!

Sewing Corner

printed shirt: thrifted | corduroy skirt: handmade

Hey, peeps! Here's my look from today. I've been wanting to wear this shirt for a while, and I wanted to include this wall in the background of one of my looks for a while ! So I combined them.
I've been doing a lot of crafts lately since I was able to go to Walmart to get some stuff. Look forward to a sculpey accessory once I get the last thing I need. Don't know when that'll be though :u

This corner is where I do all my sewing. I have a nice set up with my laptop right next to it so I can listen to/watch videos while I sew. Been running out of playthroughs lately though! So if any of you have a playthrough to recommend, please tell me! :)

When I was at Walmart, I heard this song playing, and it just took me back. I forgot about it and hearing it after so long brought me into this nostalgic state where I softly sang along and danced in my place. I hope you experience the same thing

Thrift Haul !

Here's what I recently bought at my local thrift store:

A long, checkered dress that I cut into a mini dress.

A large men's button up with an interesting print. Not sure what I'm going to do with this yet; definitely going to cut it up some how though.

This silk scarf, only $1! Couldn't resist buying it even though I rarely wear scarves.

This fleece baseball cap. I first picked it out to seam rip for a cap pattern, but I ended up liking it the way it was. And it was only a dollar! :)

So I bought this hat instead to seam rip. I'm working on that right now. It's not as easy I thought it would be because of the button on top and the clasp in back are connected to the fabric.

I got some ideas for DIYs for these. I will probably post about how my hat comes out once I'm done. Soon I will probably post an OOTD with my new mini dress.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for reading or just looking :)

DIY Button up crop top

Hey, everyone! Got another diy! Really easy, too! Just need some sewing knowledge.

Got the idea from karma clothing. Pic from my previous inspiration post

I can't believe I never thought about this before! Well, now I have, and you can too!

First, I thrifted a mens button up with a cool print that I didnt mind cutting up

I really like this print, reminiscent of a hawaiian shirt but with different fabric. This is the kind of print I'd imagine being sold along with those shirts above.

Next, I tried the thing on. I figured out where I wanted to cut it, and just in case, cut it one button lower than that. I learned the hard way before that you can't go back after cutting too much off.

After marking which button I wanted to cut at, I cut the shirt starting from there. To make an even cut, either try ur best at cutting straight, use a ruler, or fold the shirt to cut it all at once.

After cutting, I tried it on again. At this point, I realized I also wanted to shorten the sleeves.
But first! Hem the shirt!! Double fold the fabric over, making sure that everything stays even. Sew that shit up!

If you want to shorten the sleeves, try on the shirt n see how short you want them to be. I folded the sleeve end twice and liked that length. So I cut off the hemmed cuff part and folded my raw edge one cuff width up and sewed.

This part was okay until I got to the next sleeve. I was nervous the sleeves were gonna be uneven. So, just try you best to keep them even. Maybe even break out the measuring tape to get everything exact. But I wasnt like super worried.

After sewing the last sleeve, I was done! Booyah!

I paired mine with some diy high waisted cutoffs.

Hope you enjoyed this diy!! And I hope you try it out!
Embrace the crop top and high waisted stuff trend!!! :)
