DIY Egg and Donut Pins

So, a couple weeks ago I found a great tutorial on how to make an egg pin. It was also National Donut Day! I love donuts, and recently a liking for egg stuff was spiked in me.

I don't know about you, but I always use these Facebook egg emotes.

So, I decided to make a donut pin while I did an egg one!

I followed this tutorial for the egg pin; very simple and easy to do.

So, you need:
 - Sculpey (or any type of oven clay)
- paint
- a gloss or clear nail polish
- hot glue gun or e-poxy
- pin back or hair clip backing

First, I followed the girl-guts tutorial for how to make the egg shape. I just googled pictures for sunny-side up eggs and used my memory for the shape I wanted. I made my egg pretty big.

This was when I started my donut shape. I took a ball of clay and rolled it into a thin snake shape.

Next, I connected the two ends of the snake. My donut was actually pretty thick, about 1 inch tall. I smoothed out where the ends connected and used a tapestry needle I had to smooth and widen the donut hole.

Next, I used my finger to push in the center hole and push down the sides of the donuts to make a drippy frosting shape.

Next, cook your pieces following the instructions with your clay.

After cooling, I started painting white layers on my egg and donut. Try to do thin layers. It may take a while, but it'll get where you want it to be after a few more layers.

This is my first layer. I put the paint on kind of thickly so it was streaky. I ended up spreading the streaks out.

After many more layers, here's what my egg and donut looked like. I painted both sides of the donut.

Next, I painted the egg yolk yellow and the bottom of my donut a peachy color. I mixed some white and yellow and pink. It might be easier to mix orange and white, but I had no orange.

After some drying time, I moved to painting my donut frosting. I used the donut picture at the top of this post as reference for the sprinkles and frosting. You can choose whatever colors you like, but I used these!

After two layers of pink, I moved on to the sprinkles!

Once all your paint is dry on the egg and donut, use your gloss paint or your clear nail polish to cover the whole thing. One coat was enough for me!

Once that's dry, get your glue and pinbacks/hairclip backs ready 'cause it's time to glue!

I put a line of glue on my egg n donut then pressed the pin down. There were holes in the pinbacks, which I didn't think about prior to gluing, so I used my nail to pull the extra glue away.

Wait for the glue to dry a day long to be careful, and you're done!

Hope you all enjoyed!
If you try it for yourself, link me the pics! :)
